Free Rain Farms seeks Cultivation Technician in Ferndale

Free Rain Farms is a 1-acre commercial greenhouse facility. We are seeking someone with a positive attitude, hardworking, detail-oriented, organized team member to join our company. This is a full-time high labor position that may require you to be on your feet all day and moving. We are looking for a hard worker that is motivated, focused, with a strong attention to detail.

Activities will involve but not be limited to transplanting, removing and mixing soil, crop care, IPM, interacting with the plants and cleaning the facility.

This job will require the team member to have a keen eye for detail and be able to focus on a task for hours. We are looking for someone who has patience and finds satisfaction in the process of completing a job.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a hardworking, detail-oriented, self-starter with a positive attitude to add to our team. This position will involve the following;

IPM duties

Creating and recording daily scouting information
Applying beneficial insects
Researching new methods IPM control methods
Recording foliar and beneficial applications
Responsible for submitting supply request and inventory audits
Monitor and recording plant health
In charge of creating and monitoring banker plant systems
Build a strong understanding of how beneficial insects and pesticides work together
Clean equipment after use
Preparing foliar applications

Crop Duties

Cleaning facility
Soil and leaf analysis
Fertilizer and pesticide application
Scouting
Transplanting
Defoliation
Plant training
Cleaning equipment
Foliar and preventative sprays
Waste disposal
Applying drippers
Applying sachets
Recording compliance records
Pruning
Inventory management
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Have a positive attitude and willingness to learn
Comply with all HR policies including confidentiality and non-disclosure.
Facility maintenance and troubleshooting as necessary.
Maintaining good integrated pest management practices
Supply runs
Carry 35+ pounds repeatedly through the day
Able to scoop, shovel, lift large amounts of dirt
Building equipment
Work bent over tables training the crop for multiple hours

Cleaning Duties

Sweep mats at main entrance
Clean tables in the lunchroom
Empty trash in lunchroom
Wash dishes at the end of the day
Keep men’s and women’s restroom cleaning organization
Keep tractor room swept and organized
Break up boxes and recycle in tractor room
Keep tools organized in tractor room and storage area
Keep storage area clean and organized
Clean and organize hallway greenhouse hallway
Clean doors going into the greenhouse
Wash walls where appropriate
Keep restrooms stocked with clean tour gear (Tyvek, booties, hairnet)
Wash greenhouse windows in greenhouse hallway
Keep area by the dry room cleaned and swept

Outside duties

Discard all unused pallets on the outside of the building
Pick up around the perimeter of the building
Keep the container organized
Clean the power generator
Clean up by the dumpster that’s fenced in
Keep property entrance clean
Consolidate all unused pots into one location

Qualifications

Demonstrate the ability for critical thinking, and problem-solving
Strong communication skills with a positive attitude
Ability to work well with the team
Computer savvy skills including Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and compliance software
Able to occasionally lift up to 50 lb.
Able to lift up to 35 lbs. frequently for moving crops, transplanting, and equipment
Strong attention to detail
Team player
Ability to work a flexible schedule
Must be 21+ years old

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $14.00 to $15.00 /hour
