The Evergreen Market – the Northwests premier cannabis retailer is looking for a Human Resources Manager to support our five-store cannabis retail operation.

Job Title: Human Resources Manager

Summary: The HR Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the HR function including policy, procedures, benefits administration, compensation, payroll, human resources training, rewards, and conflict resolution. The successful candidate will be passionate about our work and our industry, and one who easily connects with people, promoting our values and shaping a positive, progressive culture.

Objectives of this Role

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
  • Oversee, refine, and execute human resource policies procedures
  • Support managers in promptly resolving employee relations issues and concerns
  • Protect the company from litigation and claims by risk assessing issues and escalating to leadership as appropriate
  • Monitor, implement and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local employment requirements
  • Develop and implement appropriate human resources and professional development training programs
  • Oversee and support a performance appraisal (MBO) system that drives high performance
  • Manage/oversee administrative aspects of human resources including maintenance of employee information in HRIS system, bi-monthly payroll, reports and providing employee information as needed
  • Maintain and enhance employee benefits programs, including compensation, health insurance, PTO and other incentives
  • Nurture a positive working environment, build strong relationships with management and employees, fostering trust and collaboration
  • Strengthen employee communication channels and platforms
  • Prepare and manage human resources budget
  • Develop and report on human resources metrics
  • Handle confidential matters with discretion
  • Onboarding & Offboarding
  • Oversee 50% of staff support (AP Specialist)
  • Employee recognition
  • Employee engagement (annual survey, participation in Culture Committee)
  • Responsible for vendor management of HR vendors
  • Payroll and other HR systems oversight and control
  • Partner with Assistant Store Operations Manager in talent acquisition process
  • Space planning/management for optimal impact
  • Manage/maintain culture

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree
  • 5+ years in human resources
  • Exceptional communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Adept to problem-solving and conflict resolution
  • Strong knowledge of HR policies and systems
  • Working knowledge of MS Office


  • Experience in a dynamic retail environment or working with large entry-level workforce
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Society of Human Resource Management Certification
