The Director of Operations will be responsible for management and oversight of a results-driven strategy for the production and processing departments at Solstice.
Solstice was the first commercial producer and processor of medical cannabis in Seattle in 2011, and has been a key contributor to regulatory and process standards over the last 8 years.
Today, Solstice has cultivation and processing headquartered and manages a growing portfolio of cannabis brands across Washington State.
The company is in the midst of significant growth, driven by increased supply-chain control, and looking for a highly motivated leader to join the team.
In this role, Solstice is seeking an individual who is versed in the follow key areas:
ο§ Lean manufacturing principles
ο§ Horticultural planning and flow β some CEA experience preferred
ο§ CPG manufacturing experience β raw material and hard good mgmt.
ο§ Coaching and building leadership – communication, motivation, and motivation of junior level management and line level team
This position will train in a management rotation process, assisting in the management of all operations while also learning the business alongside the CEO.
Upon successful completion of training rotation, this position will take over direct management of cultivation and processing teams.

Production Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following. (Other duties may be assigned):
o Work with senior mgmt.. to learn and continue to develop cultivation strategy
o Manage and develop cultivation plan in concert with distribution strategy
o Cultivation schedule for multiple sites β indoor, greenhouse, and outdoor
o Manage two Cultivation Managers
o Oversight of daily & weekly scheduling
o Development and tracking of KPIs
o Establishment of continuous improvement process
o Understand and manage cultivation to raw material transition process: harvest,
dry, cure, etc.
o Work with senior mgmt. to optimize cultivation canopy size and productivity
o Oversee detailed genetic R&D plan
o Facilitate team execution against key cultivation KPIs
o 2lbs/light indoor
o lb/sqft targets for greenhouse & outdoor
o A/B/C percentage & quality metrics
Processing Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following. (Other duties may be assigned):
o Work with senior mgmt.. to learn and continue to develop processing strategy to deliver against inventory and distribution targets
o Develop and manage detailed manufacturing plan in concert with company strategy
o Processing schedule for one Seattle-based factory
o Manage one Processing Manager and one Inventory Manager
o Oversight of daily & weekly scheduling
o Development and tracking of KPIs
o Establishment of continuous improvement
o Constantly work to improve process flow, increase efficiency, and improve standard costs
o Continue to develop QC process to improve product quality, control, and
consistency
General Management
o Effectively manage and motivate team β 5 direct reports & team of 30+
o Continuous development of team culture through improved communication,
incentives, and balance for junior management and line-level team
Qualifications:
o Bachelorβs degree
o 4+ years in food processing, agriculture, or similar industry preferred
o Related operations experience β particularly experience building and iterating processing line flow
o Experience managing large teams, including development of tactical targets, incentives, and scheduling to achieve goals strategic
o Excellent communication skills, articulate with strong public speaking ability / experience and excellent writing skills.
o Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly proficiency in excel
o Ability to work extended hours and non-traditional schedule to provide team with well planned and managed process flow.
Physical Requirements / Other:
o Must be able to drive a car/truck and travel via plane or train; lift up to 45 lbs
o Frequent travel within assigned area of business
o Primarily office environment but will likely be exposed to cannabis grow
operations (indoor, greenhouse, field) warehouse or distribution environment on a frequent basis
o Must be able to stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear
o Must have close vision, distant vision, ability to adjust focus, peripheral and color vision
